Analysis of the match between Luxembourg and Germany
After a shaky start to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with a 0-2 loss in Slovakia, Germany quickly bounced back. Winning three consecutive matches afterward, they rose to the top of Group A. However, Germany only leads Slovakia on goal difference, so they need to secure maximum points in the remaining two matches to guarantee direct qualification for the World Cup without going through the playoffs.
Compared to the final match against Slovakia at home, Luxembourg is clearly a much easier opponent. Currently ranked 97th in the FIFA rankings, Luxembourg has yet to earn a point in the first four matches of Group A. Looking more broadly, they are on a seven-match winless streak across all competitions, including six losses.
With limited quality and poor form, it is hard to believe Luxembourg can stop Germany, even if coach Julian Nagelsmann focuses mainly on the crucial game against Slovakia. In the first leg, Germany dominated Luxembourg with a 4-0 win. Facing a weakened opponent already eliminated, Germany can easily secure all three points, even without playing at full strength.
